YouTube Strengthens Safety Measures for Teenagers
YouTube has introduced new restrictions to enhance the safety of teenagers on its platform. In collaboration with experts, the company will limit access to content that idealises certain physical standards or promotes aggression and behaviours harmful to young people's mental health.
Additionally, it will introduce improvements in crisis support, such as for suicidal thoughts. Parents will be able to more closely monitor their children's activities, receiving notifications about interactions and uploaded content.
Notable changes include restrictions on content promoting physical comparisons or idealising specific body shapes or weight. The platform will also limit videos showing social aggression, intimidation, or confrontations, as frequent exposure to such content can induce negative emotions in teenagers.
These measures reinforce the platform's commitment to protecting its youngest users.
