Apple Speeds Up Shift from China, Bets on India for iPhone Production

Apple plans to manufacture most of the iPhones it sells in the US in India by the end of 2025, doubling its annual output in the country to over 80 million units.

The move comes in response to geopolitical tensions and tariffs on China. Currently, 20% of iPhones are already assembled in India, with firms like Foxconn and Tata expanding capacity.

High-end Pro models are also produced there, supported by government subsidies under Modi’s drive to make India a manufacturing hub. The shift highlights Apple’s strategy to diversify amid global uncertainty.
